Frequently Asked Questions

Do I really need a therapist?

When speaking with a potential new client, I always tell them that in considering therapy it's important to reflect on your emotions and how they impact your daily life. If you are someone who finds themselves being controlled by emotions and struggling with feelings of being overwhelmed, anxious (worried), or depressed (consistently sad) for extended periods of time, then therapy can be beneficial. Additionally, therapy can provide you with both guidance and support if you are experiencing difficulties in your relationships or facing major life changes.

Seeking therapy is a brave and proactive step towards taking care of your mental health.

What should I expect?

After sending me an inquiry, I will be reaching out to you as soon as possible. I will call and send an email. Please feel free to either call me back or text me at the number I reached you at. You may also send me an email, whichever is easiest for you. I will work with you to schedule a free consultation at a time that works for us both. Our initial call is spent learning what your needs are, and to determine whether or not I may be of assistance. If I am a fit then I will schedule your first session within this call.

Our first session will be spent getting to know one another. We will discuss your background, your goals within life, as well as explore obstacles which may be interfering with your success. From this we will work towards developing customized therapeutic goals for you, which will guide our work together. We will also set expectations during our initial session, as I will tell you what I expect from you, and I will also help you to determine your own desires and limitations within treatment.

What kind of therapy do you use?

I have many years of experience in individual, group, and family therapy utilizing a multitude of interventions including: motivational interviewing, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), psycho education, and trauma informed care. I have worked with individuals in residential, inpatient, rehabilitation, foster care and adoptive services. The type of therapy which I will use when meeting with you will be determined during our initial session.

Do you only see people individually?

Will I have to lay on a couch?

You can lay on a couch, lounge in a chair, or sit cross-legged on the ground, the choice is yours! I just want you to be as comfortable as possible when we meet! I only ask that all sessions be held in a quiet, well-lit, confidential space where you may speak freely without concern.

Do you accept insurance?
